I have always had a great sense for adventure and exploration.

I have been to China twice before, but only to Beijing and Xi'an. When I kept thinking about what to do for New Years I wanted something different. it came down to a few options, but ultimately I decided to go to Hong Kong with a friend of mine.

I love fit there. It was a great mix of East meets West. It reminded me a lot of Sydney and the UK. I am guessing the UK part is because Hong Kong was wince a British colony.

Here are a few pictures of me around Hong Kong exploring.

As in most of China you can go to markets. In many of these markets there are a lot of places to eat. There is no way to compare these street restaurants to anything that you would see in the US.

When you order by simply pointing to pictures in the menu you can't help but wonder what the conditions are like in the kitchen. The area around isn't the most enticing and upscale. But alas, if hundreds of people can eat there every day and be fine so can I. I did have a few beers, after all, alcohol kills germs.

I love going to the Disney parks, and Honk Kong had a park open there about 5 years ago. It was a great experience to be able to go there. The only park that I have left to visit is the one in Tokyo. They are also currently building one in Shanghai, but that will not be open for 3 more years.

Travel 2011

If you follow me on twitter (@Ryan_Raz) or look at my travel schedule on my blog you can easily see that I do quite a bit of traveling. Some people dread it, but i always seem to thrive on it. I rarely take a lot of time to think about that places I have been, but it seems that I am always planning my next big adventure.

My mind works in interesting ways. I am constantly looking at things and trying to calculate and compute different variables and values to my activities. because of those I have some fun facts and figures that you may like to know about me this past year.

Least year I flew 200,526 miles, somehow I had managed to have them all on sky team airlines.

I went to 12 different countries located on three different continents. I got confused on where I have been and where I want to go so I have put up a dry erase board with a world map printed on it so I can effectively mark where I want to go and where I have been. Not to mention I also marked out the places that I do not want to go. For some reason the middle east and a large section of Africa are void of any and all interest.

I spent 222 nights in a bed other than my own. That means for very three nights I only averaged one of those nights in my bed.

For the year I paid roughly $18,000 in rent, mainly because from February to July I was paying rent on two locations until my move out of NYC was complete. So for those nights that I was home I was essentially paying $126 a night to stay in my own place. Seems I may just be better off living out of a hotel. I actually know a few people that have some that for a few years, and it seemed to work for them well.

As I write this on my flight form Shanghai to Tokoyo on my way back to my own bed in STL I realize that the first 19 days of this year I will spend just one night in my own bed.

As I constantly seem to be looking forward I am already thinking about all of my travels in 2012. I have a lot of great things in the works, but I am not sure if I can top 2011. I am definitely going to try, but even if I do not come close to as many adventures I know that I still have enough planned to continue to keep my parents head spinning and wondering what time zone I am in.

When I was recently asked to review seven oversized anal toys from BoyzShop, my hole delighted at the prospect of some serious stretching. If God could create the world in seven days, I figured I could at least review seven sex toys during the same period of time!

With sex toys, it's best to start small. And even though these were all jumbo toys, I thought theLarge Anal Beads would be the perfect item to warm up with on day one. I was right, but as I got down to the last few beads, it became harder to insert and remove them. A base on the end made things very user-friendly, but it was still tough to reach when I got to the last beads. This would be the perfect toy for a top and a bottom to use together, in order to make things easier.

On days two and three I tried out the medium and the large-sized Three Bumps For Your Rumptoy. They're basically identical except for their size. The medium model does have a smaller tip, so getting it in and then working it down to the base was definitely easier. However, with the larger model I really liked the stretching sensation the bumps provided as I worked my way down. There’s also a third, smaller size if that’s more your speed.

On the fourth day, I tried a toy that was unlike any I’d ever tried before – a Giant Inflatable Dildo with rigid internal core. I had used tapered toys before, but I had never tried a toy that could actually increase its girth while it was inside me. In order to get the dildo in, I had to have it completely deflated – and it felt like I was trying to insert something with a thick, loose plastic bag around it! But once that was accomplished, it was definitely interesting to blow it up and to feel it growing larger inside me. Overall, I found it uncomfortable to insert and it didn't provide the type of arousal that I usually prefer when using a toy solo. However, it would probably be just the ticket for some people.

In general, I like a toy that doesn't have deep ridges or drastic changes in thickness, so this one was great. On the sixth day, I was ready to try The Hand. I must admit – this wasn't the first time that I had used this particular toy. If you like getting fisted, then this is the toy for you. If I could list the top 5 things that I dislike about the human race, one of them would definitely have to be stupid people. Falling in this category for me are those people that feel the need to protest homosexuality.

If you are reading this then you know that being gay isn't a choice, its just the way I am. If you disagree with that I beg you to do a swan dive off a freeway overpass.

I detest the abundance of stupidity that is allowed to happen all over the world, but in all reality many of these people are just a simple result of their upraising. If you are raised by ignorant people, then your chances of becoming ignorant by default is obviously greater.

While I do not agree with what these protestors have to say, I love the fact that they are able to say it. One of the many things that makes this country great is the fact that we have the right to express our opinions when ever we want to. In too many places in the world people are told what they are or are not allowed to express. If these people, as ignorant as they maybe, want to stand there and tell me how I am wrong then thats fine. As long as they are not being violent or causing harm to anybody, then I will fully support their right to protest.

When reading the most recent issue of Frontiers magazine there was an interview with Connor Habib. I don’t think that anyone that knows Conner can argue with the fact that he is an extremely well educated man. The fact that he has a face that is undeniably sexy doesn’t hurt also.

In the article Conner as asked his advice to people entering the industry. His response was:

If you are taking the time to read my rants then I am hoping that you at least know a little bit about me. In the off chance that you stumbled on this page and have no clue who the hell I am here is what you need to know. I am a retired porn star who is still active in the porn industry and currently still a sex worker. I travel doing a lot of events for porn and sex toy companies and I also do a lot of planning and events for rentboy.com.

Being an active sex worker for four years now I definitely know what Conner is talking about in this part of the interview. I have never been ashamed or denied that I have been a part of the sex industry. While you may not agree that sex work is real work, I beg to differ. The money that I have made the past four years I’ve declared on my taxes and I have paid taxes on every penny that I can recall making the past four years. Trust me this has not been an easy thing to do, especially because I am responsible for withholding my own money to pay my taxes at the end of the year.

While four years is not a large time span in the normal work force, in the porn world it is a lifetime. Every year that passes it becomes harder and harder to make a living as a sex worker. The general philosophy that me and my roommate Austin Wilde have decided upon is that if you are able to make it one year you are doing something right. If you are able to make it two years and by some grace of god have not wound up in jail or rehab then you may actually have a good head on your shoulders. If you are able to make it three years then you are probably perfectly jaded, and in the chance you can make it to year four then you can easily be a permanent fixture in the world of sex workers.

Connor and I have been around long enough that I am sure we could easily be permanent fixtures. I am extremely happy with my life right now and while I know that I cannot be a sex worker for the rest of my life, I do not see my current lifestyle changing any time soon.

Hawaii

There are not many people that I know that travel more than me. It seems I am in a constant state of travel, and I spend more nights in a hotel than I do in my own apartment. When it comes to travel in the United States there are few places that I have not been.

This past week I went to Honolulu, Hawaii. I went there once 8 years ago, and a friends recent trip fueled my fire to go back. I had one of the best trips I have had in a while with my friends.

When all else fails just drink a bottle of champagne at sunset.....

.....and then keep drinking and play the game "Let's see how high we can bet our BAC."

Some times you have to be tied down for you own good.

A great way to get exercise on a trip is to climb up a mountain. Here is me and Austin Wilde climbing to the top of Diamond Head.

One day we went to the Pearl Harbor memorial site. It's eerie to think about what happened there almost 70 years ago. It's hard to think about what all those people sacrificed in the name of freedom. I went there on my trip 8 years ago, but for some reason it had a much higher impact that it did then.

Who goes to Hawaii and doesn't spend most of their time on the beach? We went to 4 different beaches and each one was amazing and completely different than each other. Quite an amazing trip.

A fan and I were talking on twitter and he eventually sent me an email with a few questions that he has for me, and also suggested them as questions for a blog update. The questions were actually quite thought provoking and I think that it is time for me to answer them. They focus around the area of Gay for Pay (G4P) models working in the gay industry. If you didn't know I am a full homo, so this is an area that I have a definite opinion on.

Do gay models resent G4P performers as taking jobs, and money, away from them?

I must say that my opinions expressed do not represent all gay models. I personally feel that the models doing gay porn should be gay, or can at least to the fact that they are bisexual. I say this having a large amount of close friends in the industry that are gay for pay. I personally am turned off by "straight" people doing gay sexual acts. Sure what they are doing is definitely hot and deserves to be filmed, but I believe the day industry should have gay people. If I want to see people acting gay I can watch TV shows.

Do gay performers think G4P bottoms are truly straight, or are they just kidding themselves?

I personally can't recall any gay for pay performers that bottom who actually enjoy it. Take Marcus Mojo and Brandon Lewis for example. They prefer women, but have no problem with men. Those gay for pay performers that really do enjoy bottoming are at least bisexual. If you like a dick in your ass, then obviously on some level you like dudes.

When you’re at events such as Gay Days at Disney World with other gay models, do you miss the G4P guys?

When I do events like Gay Days I am not really working, I am there for the fun. When I do events that I am working I do not care if the people I am working with are gay or straight. I have a very low tolerance for ignorance and stupid people, which most of the adult models are, so I only make sure that I am spending my time with people that I actually like. Often I have the most fun with girls that have been hired to perform at events.

Do you think G4P models’ viewpoint that they are straight has a negative effect on people who are questioning their own sexual orientation and/or trying to come to grips with the realization that they are gay?

No I do not. Models who make a living in the gay industry learn very quickly that what other people think does not matter. If you are able to support yourself in an industry that is paying models less money every year then obviously you are doing something right. I learned very quickly not to give a care to what other people think.

Do you think G4P models insult their gay fans when they insist they are straight?

Not at all. I do not understand why, but there are a lot of people out there that get off to the idea of a straight guy being used by a gay guy. For me that whole fantasy does nothing for me.

Gay Days 2011

Going to Disney World is one of my favourite things that I like to do. While I would enjoy going to Disney and day of the week, the best time to go is during Gay Days. There are events all weekend long such as pool parties and circuit parties but for me the best parts are the Saturday and Sunday during Gay Days.

Coming first at you are the pictures from Saturday at the Magic Kingdom park. I will post the pictures from "drinking around the world" at Epcot shortly.

Durring the event at Magic Kingdom it is traditional for the gays to wear red shirts during the day. I had these shirts made for our group. It seems to fit in well with our groups dynamics.

If you follow me and my travel schedule it is obvious that I do an extensive amount of traveling. Many of my travels are for working these events. There are few events that I look forward to more than the HustlaBall, both the NYC and London events.

HustlaBall London has typically taken place on Bank Holiday weekend in May, but this year they have decided to hold it in June. The main reason for this is the warmer weather thus creating more of a draw for people to go out and party.

For the past two years I have been fortunate enough to be asked to attend for a third year. I am not entirely sure what my official duties will be at the party this year, but this is going to be my first year where I am not performing. If you have ever seen me perform it is not my strong suit, but something that I can definitely do. There is a strong chance I will be spending most of my time helping host the VIP room.

Hero

Somebody a few weeks ago asked me who my "hero" is, and to that question I did not have a particular answer. I never really idolized or looked up to anybody else. After taking some time to think about the answer to that question the best answer I could come up with was my dad.

When my dad found out that hew as having a son I know that he was picturing what most soon to be fathers picture, which is the idea of his child scoring the winning touchdown and marrying the hottest girl in college. What my dad got on the other hand was a child who completed little league football sitting on the ground picking flowers and learned at a young age not to play with balls that were not attached.

Even though I am nothing what my dad wanted in a child he still loves me for who I am. Hearing others stories of rejection by their parents, and especially their fathers makes me feel lucky to have the dad / parents that I do. I am very lucky and thankful for what I have.

I am not at all a religious person. I grew up going to church, but I personally feel that organized religion has done more harm to the human civilization than good.

While I know this theory can leave much room for debate, there are some religious practices that I feel can be very beneficial to us. I find one of these beneficial practices is giving up something for the period of lent. I know the reason for giving something up is to better understand the sacrifices Christ went through and then in theory bring you closer to God, but ever since I was a child I have perceived lent as an opportunity to have personal growth.

I always like to give myself a challenge and attempt to make myself a stronger person, and every year I have always given something up for lent. In the past I gave up candy when I was a child and when I was older I gave up alcohol. Once when I was 19 I was inspired by the movie “40 days and 40 nights” and I gave up all forms of sexual pleasure for the 40 day period of lent; that one was a difficult one.

With lent coming upon us I have been giving much thought as to what I will give up this year, and a few nights ago the answer to my question dawned upon me. I had been sitting at my computer for over an hour going back and forth between twitter and facebook and I realized that I was putting off my long list of chores to sit at the computer and waste my time tweeting and making random comments of peoples updates.

I sat there perplexed by the amount of time I wasted sitting at my computer or iPhone doing absolutely nothing but staying connected to the social networking world. There is a great web site out there called TweetWasters.com that allows you to see how much time you have wasted on twitter, and essentially I could have driven from LA to NYC with the amount of time I have wasted on twitter.

One of my biggest pet peeves is people that say the do not have enough time to get things done, when they lead sedentary lives and are basically to lazy to get off their ass and get their shit done. I am constantly mesmerized by the amount of apathy in the world today. How hard is it to get off you ass and do something with your life?

With all of this being said I have decided that this year for lent I will be giving up putting my Ryan Raz twitter and facebook profiles aside and taking the time I would normally spend on them to better organize my time and get more of my personal long term goals accomplished.

I figure I spend a little more than an hour a day on twitter and facebook, therefore over the 40 days of lent I should be able to spend about 48 more hours focused on me and less time wasted on being socially connected to a bunch of people I don’t really know but have managed to become “friends” with.

As you can see from my travel schedule and all of my past blog updates, it has always been hard for me to stay in one location at one time.

For the past two and half years I have been able to call New York home and it is a city that I have definitely loved. There was a point where I was bi costal where I had a place in LA also for about 9 months, but LA and I did not get along all so well. There are people the feel at home in NYC and people that feel home in LA, and LA does / did not feel like home at all. I still travel there often, but its still not close to my favorite city.

With my travel schedule staying crazy as it has remained over the past two years, I get about 7-10 days home a month. While I love living in NYC I am paying $1500 for a nice studio apartment in the Upper East Side. For those of you that do not know NYC, $1500 for a nice studio in my location is a fair price. Living in NYC is amazing, but it is now time for me to gather my things and move on.

After what has been much debate and consideration I have decided to make Saint Louis my home base, which is where I grew up. I miss being able to get into my car and drive to the stores, the convenience of the suburbs, and being able to have a big house. Living in a small studio is definitely doable, but growing up I a big house and then switching to a studio can be quite difficult.

My best friend in the industry is Austin Wilde (www.austinwilde.com) who is also a Saint Louis native, and now we are going to be living together. Oddly enough we both grew up in the Saint Louis area but until we meet in Chicago May 2009. Ever since meeting our personalities have been a good match, and I am sure after spending weeks together traveling the world we will have no problems living together.

This month I begin my slow move back to Saint Louis, and by July 1 when my lease is up NYC will no longer be my home. For the next three months I will be living in both places and then eventually Saint Louis will be home. I have many friends in NYC so I am figuring that I will be visiting very often, so often it may even seem like I never moved.

China

When most people decide to go on a vacation they pick locations that are popular, like Paris, London or some Caribbean island. When I decide to go on vacation I want to go somewhere that most people do not think of as a vacation spot. Early this year me and a good friend of mine decided to go to Beijing and explore.

Here are a few pictures of me in the Forbidden City and also at Tiananmen Square. Beijing in China is cold in January, but not any worse than home in NYC, but unlike in NYC there isn't a lot of wind whipping between the buildings.

Anybody that goes to Beijing has to visit the Great Wall. Here are a few pics from that. The best thing about visiting places in the off season is that there are a lot less tourists that normal. We went to the Mutainyu section of the wall and we were the only people around for a long time. It's great being able to explore something and not have a lot of people crowding you.

We brought our mini Dug the Dog with us, he had a blast. Ha.

We made a side trip to a city called Xi'an. This is the area where the Terra-cotta Warriors were found. One amazing collection of artifacts from history. Its quite amazing seeing artifacts so greatly preserved from 2200 years ago.

VEGAS

Anybody that knows me knows that I LOVE Las Vegas. While it I love going to Vegas I never seem to take any pictures, mainly because anything I would have to show you in Vegas you can pretty much view online. I am not one of those people that takes pictures of everything.

Earlier this month there was the AEE and InterNext conferences, which are basically a large gathering of all the major porn studios and the people that work for them.

I have had some really great trips to Vegas, and this past trip has to be one of the best trips that I have had. I know this is mainly because I had so many friends in town that it was impossible for me to keep up. By the end of my four days in Vegas I needed a vacation from Vegas.

While I am notoriously bad at taking pictures, I (you) should be glad that the world's best Fag Hag was there. Laura is a real photographer and takes amazing shots of everything she sees. Besides being an amazing photographer she is the only person I know that has such a strong love for food that I do.

In the Adult Industry there seems to be few times where I am taken aback. Most of our lives are like those who lead normal lives. Most of us have regular jobs and we don’t lead the crazy life like people assume that we do.

There are times that we are booked for appearances and go out with friends in the industry, but in general most of us don’t do anything special. Many people watch porn, but the general population doesn’t follow porn stars like they follow people who act in mainstream T.V. and movies.

I had a moment on a Delta flight to Puerto Vallarta recently that made me think “wow people do pay attention to more than just the sex.”

As I was sitting finishing my breakfast and watching a movie a male flight attendant popped down and wanted to let me know that he was a fan. Not one of those instances where people ask if I do porn or how he may know me, but he knew exactly who I was.

When most people recognize me its in Gay bars in big cities where there are many porn stores that advertise DVD’s or places where I go out often. Its no secret that I travel often and also go out to the bars a lot. It makes sense that people in cities that I have traveled to often may know me.

It was one of those moments for me that made me feel happy about doing porn. It may sound weird for me to say this, but its one things that made me smile.

"Suite 703 hired me for two shoots during San Diego Pride," Raz tells The Sword. "It was the weekend of July 16-18th, and I was booked for a solo and a duo scene. But by the time I flew out there, the scenes had been canceled. Still, I was promised by (Suite 703 parent company) Naughty America that I'd be paid a kill fee, which is the standard thing to do."
Raz says the kill fee (50% of his total booking) was $1300. That, coupled with the $500 in expenses he incurred while visiting San Diego (expenses he says he was told he'd be reimbursed for) added up to $1800, which he's been waiting for since July.

"I have nothing against Suite 703, but this has caused me a lot of difficulties. Honestly, I don't think the problem is with Suite 703 though. It's the straight side of the company, Naughty America; they're having financial difficulties," Raz theorizes.

I would first like to say that I really don't have any problem with Suite 703. Even though they have owed me $1800 for two months now I still feel that they have the best current web based porn site out there. So I know there are a quite a few people that have been following me for the past few years. As some of you may recall in january of 2009 I had an operation to remove a part of my rectum due to rectal cancer. This was not necessarily a hard time for me emotionally because it was in a very early stage and was able to be taken care of via operation, allowing me to skip chemo and radiation. It was though a hard time physically mainly because the removed a part of my rectum and, well, everybody poops. After a few months things were back to normal for me and then three months later I was back to having sex.

I have been having periodical checkups with my proctologist and my last visit my doctor noticed some "areas of concern" and they took a few very small samples for a biopsy. About a month ago those samples came back pre cancerous which meant that those areas had to go. Two days ago I went in for a little procedure where they basically use an infrared light and burn away the trouble areas.

The procedure went MUCH better than I thought it was going to. I was thinking I was going to have the same pain that I had before. Things are okay for me right now, and I am healing well. I had this procedure done a few days before a three week Atlantis Cruise. It will basically leave me out of commission for most of the cruise, but then again its not all about how much sex I can have and more about relaxing.

It has been 7 weeks since my last blog update. It's hard to believe that it has been that long.

Since my last blog update I was in London for HustlaBall and Dublin for some vacation.

I spent a week in Atlanta doing some photo shoots.

Over the past two years I have been lucky to have life experiences that most people wish they could have experienced. So far my career in the adult industry has been one that I am very thankful for and I have had few regrets.

When I do interviews a few of the most regular questions that are proposed to me are “How long do you think you will continue to do porn?” and also “What is it about porn that made you want to do it in the first place?” The answer to these questions has always been one of the easiest for me. I have always said I will continue to do porn as long as it makes me happy, and I started doing porn for the adventure and excitement.

Over the past few months my attitude towards working in front of the camera has been changing. What was once exciting and thrilling has been changing into something that seems like a chore. I have continued to enjoy my travels and flying all over the world, but working in front of the camera no longer holds the same level of enjoyment that brought me there in the beginning.

My feelings began to change in December of 2009, and I thought that maybe it was just one of those phases that people go through. No matter how much you like your job, there are going to be those times that it isn’t all fun and games. In the past months it has been becoming clearer and clearer to me that these feelings are not simply something temporary but something that is here to stay.

With these feelings in place, I no longer feel that it is in my best interest to continue filming in the adult industry. While I personally feel that I no longer have a desire to do any filming, this does not mean that I wish to completely wash my hands of the industry and will never be heard from again. There are those that wish it was that easy to get rid of me, but to their dismay it is going to take a whole lot more than that. I will continue to travel and stay very actively involved in the industry, those that know me best know that I DO NOT miss a party. I will still be attending and presenting at the Grabby Awards this, and I do hope to take home an award; also I will still be performing at HustlaBall London. Just because I am no longer filming doesn’t mean that I didn’t work my ass off for my nominations; no pun intended.

When I first entered into the industry I had these ideas of being a big star and that everybody should love me because I did porn. These ideas quickly fell by the way side as I realized that in the great scheme of life, porn is just porn and holds no real value in my everyday reality. It has given me a new perspective on how I view the world and has also made me thankful that I didn’t enter the industry until after I completed my Bachelors degree, mainly because I feel at this point I was mature enough to make wise decisions.

In the past two years I have managed to be in 22 DVD’s and 9 of them I have been placed on the cover. In a world that is becoming extremely technologically advanced the DVD market is shrinking at a rapid pace, I personally think that me being able to maintain regular DVD work is a great accomplishment. Between DVD and Web works I have filmed a 72 scenes, which most were made possible because of my agent Howard who runs FabScout Entertainment.

I have seen way too many boys enter thinking they are the best thing to happen to porn, and also think that they are the best thing to ever happen to sex. Most of the time these boys disappear as quickly as the appeared just now they have made many life choices that they will regret for the rest of their lives. Thankfully I know that I will never feel this way, I am glad about what I have done and think that it has made some great character changes in myself.

I love when I am home in NY and cut through Times Square and I have a tourist stop me and ask me if my name is Ryan, or to walk into a bar in Melbourne Australia and have locals ask me where they know me from. As I get older and my looks continue to mature, I know that these occurrences will slowly come to a stop; but knowing that I have fans all over the world makes me smile.

While every American knows about the policy of "don't ask, don't tell", it is clear that this issue in the gay community is more important than in straight community. This is understandable because in all reality gay people are the minority in society and the greater needs of the country doesn't focus around being gay.

Surprisingly, this policy affected my career in the adult industry. Many people think of the industry in a negative way, and I will be honest I have my moments also. There is a negative connotation against most people who do porn, escort and go-go dance because they have no other skills; or basically because they are such screw ups in life that nobody would hire them. I have definitely met my fair share of people that fit this criteria, but there are many that are not only good at sex. (or what amazing editing skills can create into good sex)

What I find to be an even more of a rarity is that somebody in the industry has their bachelors degree. I can only think of three people who have done this at this point, myself being one of them. Most people don't know this but I have my Bachelors degree in Geography with an Area of Specialization in Satellites and Mapping with a minor in Meteorology.

When I graduated from college I thought about serving in the Air Force. I took a test (AFOQT) to see if I qualified to be an officer, and went through all the medical steps(MEPS) and meet with officers and did everything in the application process. Then one great day in the spring of 2008 I received a letter telling the that I had been accepted to attend Officers Training School(OTS) and upon completion I would be an officer in the United States Air Force.

At that point in my life I was not out to many people, only a few friends. I knew I was gay, but what was holding my back from joining the military was a fear that one day I could not be who I felt I was in my heart. When I made the decision about my future I made it in largely based upon the don't ask, don't tell policy.

While I can not speculate whether I would have successfully completed my officer training, this policy had a great influence in deciding my future. I am continuing the pursuit of my masters degree, and I am in an industry that I currently have no regrets about being a part of. I can't help but wonder how different my life would be if the United States military would have allowed me to live a lifestyle that was found acceptable.

On a side note I think I would look good as a Marine, and there A LOT of military men that are missing out on some fun with me!!!

I just got back from having a very nice relaxing cruise in the Caribbean. This is not my first cruise by any means, the past two cruises I have been on have been on have been awkward for me. My normal day involves gay people in gay places, but when I am on a cruise with what I will call normal society I am not in my typical surroundings. From San Francisco I went home to Saint Louis to spend time with friends, and then I headed down to New Orleans so I could leave on a cruise over Thanksgiving. I hate the holidays so I always do my best to try and escape. Below are a few pictures from that cruise.

We have to admit that we were a little surprised when we heard you were signed as a Raging Stallion exclusive. We don't mean to be entirely blunt, but you’re a lot smaller-framed and smoother than their usual models. Does this signal a new direction for you or the studio?

Well, yes, you are right. I am nothing like the typical Raging Stallion model. Raging Stallion is not going in a new direction, but Raging Stallion is expanding their market range. With that said, that's why they signed me to the exclusive contract. Compared to most of the Raging Stallion models I would be be called a twink, for many reasons. I am smaller framed and much less muscular than most of the men. And unlike any other exclusive they have, I can not grow any facial hair.

We wrote a post a while back about your feelings on the future of gay sex. Do you really think there will be a day when guys can fuck freely without any risks?

I still believe what I said in the HX Magazine interview; one day we will be able to have sex without any risks. I say this hoping that new diseases will not develop and that with our technological advances and practicing safe sex, we'll be able to stop the spread of STDs. I am always very safe in my sexual practices, and I have never had and STD. If we all take the time to try and be safe, we can make a big change.

So you were at one of MANHUNT’s recent pool parties. Did anything naughty happen that we didn’t see? What’s the wildest thing you’ve done off camera?

The MANHUNT party that I attended was a blast. I never though a house pool party could be so much fun, but it's MANHUNT so I should have expected an amazing party. Plus, with me being there, you know there's going to be a party. There wasn't a whole lot of debauchery going on that I was able to see. It was a very fun and relaxed party.

It's hard to say what's the wildest thing I've done off-camera. The reason I fit into Raging Stallion so well is because I range from mild to wild.

I’m always mystified by anyone who’s taken a pounding from Barrett Long. I’m sure all the bottoms and aspiring versatile guys are wondering, what’s your secret?

I have indeed taken a pounding from Barrett Long, as well as other big men like Tommy Defendi, Diesel Washington, Ben Andrews, and I also film with the "Monster Dick" line for Raging Stallion. Also, I've done two movies where I'm a fisting bottom, and I'll be filming my first two fisting movies with Raging Stallion in the beginning of November.

According to the list of completed scenes, I've done fifty-three scenes as of October 2009, so I've had many scene partners. In my time escorting, I have had some high-profile clients, but the great thing about high-profile clients is they want to be treated like regular people. Just because they have a great career or a lot of money, that doesn't change who they are to me. Yes, money does make a difference in the world today, but in my eyes if they are rude and obnoxious, they are not worth my time.
As far as embarrassing stories go, how about this one? I'm currently flying to my Los Angeles home in first class, and the person sitting next to me was a client from about four months ago when I was at my New York apartment. It's not really an embarrassing story, but its funny how small the world is.

Aside from “Ryan Raz”, what’s your porn name? You know, using the ol' first pet plus street you grew up on equation.

Aside from Ryan Raz, my other name would be Annie Saint Clair. I think that would make a good drag name. If I ever decide to go that route, that's the name that I will stick with.

What would fans be surprised to learn about you?

A lot of people are surprised to hear that I have a bachelor's degree in Geography with an area of specialization in Satelites and Mapping. A good portion of boys in the industry haven't finished or even started their bachelor's. I even started my master's degree focusing on International Relations, but in January I was diagnosed with rectal cancer and took some time off of school. I spent this past week in LA doing a few club appearances and also spending time with friends. On Thursday night I did Cocktails with the Stars and then on Saturday I was at Numbers. Every time I come to LA I keep saying that I could possible live here. I absolutely love the weather and the close proximity to the beach. The week that I was there I got a convertible rental instead of my regular and I am so glad that I did. Every day the sun was out and it was absolutely perfect, I know it is not always like this, but alas it was perfect while I was there. On the other hand I hate the fact that I have to drive everywhere, parking is expensive and impossible, and I also absolutely hate traffic.

This week I am in Sydney, Australia. I have never been here before and as a well seasoned traveler I must say this city is amazing.

This was the first time that I have done Gay Days at Disney before, but hardly the first time that I had been to Disney World. I had so much fun its ridiculous. I knew that all the gay people wore red shirts, and I was expecting to see some but Magic Kingdom was a sea of red.

The next day we went to Epcot and visited all of the countries they have around the lake and did a drink at every country. We started at 12 and by the time the fireworks began at 9pm we were completely wasted......a great way to experience Disney.

Yes as we all know this past weekend was the Grabby’s and also IML weekend and I was definitely in attendance. I will speak my thoughts on it in a few days, I am waiting for a few pictures to come in from photographers and want a few days to collect me thoughts. It was a crazy event filled weekend and don’t want to miss anything.

What I would like to convey is my thoughts about this past year. What few people realize is very recently I just hit my one year mark in the industry. I filmed my very fist scene just a year ago, and I can’t help but look at how far I have come over the past year.

As I write this I am on my way back to NY(home) after just finishing my lunch and enjoying a nice glass of merlot; but before hand I had a Bloody Marry for Brandon Baker. I can’t help but realize how great my life is, and how lucky I am.

When I showed up for my first scene, which happened by accident, I was asked have you done this before? My response was well no, why do you ask? I was told that for my first scene I acted like I had been doing this for years and that I was going to be big. As most of you know I loved doing it and stove to be the best I could be. In just a short years time I managed to work for every major studio besides miss Chi Chi, and have managed an amazing exclusive deal with Raging Stallion Studios.
When I first began in the industry I was told that I must contact Howard at Fabscout Entertainment, and I know without Howard’s help I would not be where I am today. Howard made it happen, enough said.

People ask me all the time, why have you been so successful? My simple response to them is I have no clue. I will admit that I have amazing bottoming skills, and even in the bottoming area I have been through a lot this past year. My body is lean and sporty, but nothing like the Jarics and the mass of other models in the industry that have picture perfect bodies. Every photographer tells me that my eyes are stunning, but in general I just see myself as an ordinary person. Going to large events like the Grabby’s and the GayVN awards I have a hard time because I see all the models that bring so much more than me. The good thing about being around all of these boys is it makes me work harder to improve myself.

All I can hope for is to have my second year be as great as my first year. Thanks to everybody for making it happen. Never thought I would post a blog from 32,000 feet in the air.

I am in Barcelona now, a city that I absolutely love. I was lucky enough to spend a summer here a few weeks ago taking Spanish lessons. Truely a unique city that I wish I lived in.

I do not know if it is because every city I travel to in the U.S. I have a friend and always am kept busy, or the fact that I can't use my cell phone or many of the little things.

So this past weekend was Hustlaball London. I have been in Europe for a week now and I am sorry for the delay in updating my blog. I have been so busy that I just simply have not had a chance to update. I am in Germany right now visiting with a few friends of mine so not that I am on holidays for a few days I have a chance to update you on everything that has happened over the past week.

So back to London. I have been to London three times before, but this is my first time going in the industry and with gay men. This means that I got a chance to explore a part of London that I have never fully been able to explore before.

The Hustlaball was great, the venue was perfect for the party. I wish I had pictures of the club and the crowds, but when you are running around with very little clothes and a dog tail butt plug in you don’t have much storage space for a camera. In comparing this Hustlaball with the other one that I have been to in New York this one was much more sexual, but I am told that the one in Berlin is the one to attend for a crazy time.

The Hustlaball New York this year has been set for October 11th, and since I live in New York I am sure that I will be there.

So this past week I have been in Los Angeles and I am sitting here at LAX airport and thinking about this past week. When I first arrived in LA I hated it, I have never been a huge fan of the west coast. Slowly as the week progressed I found myself becoming more and more accustomed to the LA lifestyle and now I find myself contemplating being bi-cosal.

I have always been a people person, and the people I met LA are completely different than my friends back in NY; which I find to be a positive thing. The lifestyle between the two cities is so different, and there are aspects of both that I adore and dislike.

I am booked completely solid with travel until July; as you can tell from my travel calendar on the top right part of my blog. Once my travels calm down, I think I will be spending a lot more time in LA.

I am currently in Fort Lauderdale where I am filming and also working as a PA for a shoot this week. As my career keeps going I find myself spending more and more time in the sunshine state, and it is a great break from the cold dreary weather that seems to haunt New York until late May.

When ever I visit I always try and arrive a few days early so I can relax, get some rest, and visit with friends. Last night we were at a bar called Baordwalk, I was there with my agent Howard for Fabscout Entertainment, where the lovely Leo Giamani was booked for an appearance. I must admit that the Boardwalk is not my favourite bar, but I always have a good time.

Last night at two different points I had people come up to me asking if I was Ryan Raz, and of course I said well yes I am. I always love hearing and talking with people who recognize me from my movies, and getting to know them. They both made a comment last night that I tend to hear all to often, "you look so much better in person."

It doesn't bother me to hear this, in fact I love it. I get told that I look great in the movie, and then that I look even better in person. I find it to be more of a compliment than anything. What I find interesting is that I do not get this from people who have only seen me on the internet, or Falcon, or Lucas, etc. I get this from people all over the porn spectrum, and it forces me to wonder why?

Why is it that people find me more attractive in person, and that my pictures do not do me justice? I know that it is not the photographers, because I have worked with a lot of amazing photographers that can make anybody look good.

I will say this much, I am glad people are saying you look so much better than your pictures or scene, and not wow you don't look nearly as good as you did in your movie.

Yes after many emails and even a few phone calls asking me to update my blog from all of the events that transpired this past GayVN weekend, I have finally had a chance to do it. I write to you on my flight back home to New York, and I must say it has been a very interesting weekend to say the least.

First and foremost I was nominated for best fetish performer, but alas I was not able to take home the award. While I would have loved to take home the award, it still means a lot to me that I was nominated.

At this point there are a lot of big changes in store for me this next year. My trip to San Francisco went from a visit for the GayVN’s to something that will be the base for an amazing career in the industry. As hype from the awards dies down an official press release will be announced, but to say the least I am in store for an amazing year.

The days before I made my journey to San Francisco I was in Fort Lauderdale for 5 days filming and visiting with my agent Howard at Fabscout Entertainment. The good thing about filming in Fort Lauderdale is Howard isn’t just my agent, but he is family. Fortunately he was in San Francisco for the awards also I was able to spend 10 days with him.

This was my first year in the industry and also my first time attending the awards so I was not sure what to expect. It is hard to say whether I found the weekend a blast, or just another weekend with a bunch of porn stars. I pictured a sort of wild and crazy weekend where people were going out all the time and the party never stopped. Friday night there was a tailgate party where most studios hosted an event at a bar and everybody bar hopped socializing from place to place. That was really the only time where everybody was out to party, and that really was a surprise to me.

There is one really good thing that came from the Tailgate party; I meet a local boy named Cole Streets. Cole is new to the adult industry, and unlike many of the boys that last a few months and disappear Cole has a great future ahead of him. We spent time a good amount of time together, and I am glad that I met him.

The award show in itself was fun, but to be honest the two best parts of the evening were being able to mingle with people I don’t get to see too often in the industry, and one of the hosts Alec Mapa. He was so funny and energetic; he made the event worth attending in my opinion.

Now to Michael Lucas, as most people know I have done work with him in the past year, actually 7 scenes since August. Most of the phone calls and emails that I have received were in regards to his behavior at the awards show. Besides Jason Crew, who is looking absolutely amazing, I was the only other model there that has also worked quite extensively with Lucas Entertainment this past year. Because of this it seems that people seem to think that my opinion matters, and also that because I have worked with Lucas Entertainment so frequently I should have the inside dish and am going to spill it to everybody.

For reasons that will be announced soon, I will not have the opportunity to work with Lucas Entertainment. At first I had some serious torn emotions about this, but sad to say I don’t feel so bad any more; I am more saddened about disappointing Mr. Pam and Patrick than anything. Things that Michael said to me this weekend, and comments that I heard said about others behind their backs showed me his true colors.

People warmed me before I even filmed my first scenes with Lucas Entertainment for Return to Fire Island what type of person he was, and now that I have experienced it for myself I can say they underestimated his personality.

Also as far as his stunt at the awards show, I have to say that it was done in poor taste. While I will say that I have to agree with Michael fully about the seriousness of underage models in pornography, and that this issue is nothing that should be taken lightly.

I have yet to talk with one person who feels that it was necessary to go on stage uninvited and publicly insult Brent Corrigan, and then proceed to shame the committee for nominating him. We all know Michael thrives on negative energy and that he will do anything to keep himself in the center of attention, but I don’t think he should have gone out of his way to insult the committee that also nominated his movies. There is already a long list of places that he is not welcome, must he add one more? I don’t know if he is proud of his actions or not, but if he is proud there is already enough shame in the industry for him.

Dominic Ford - 3D

Have you ever wanted to watch me have sex? Well not you can, not live an in person, but in 3D. A few weeks ago I filmed with Dominic Ford, and they are the first studio that not films every scene the regular 2D way, but they also film in 3D.

I am very excited to actually watch my scene, it should be really exciting. Porn Up! Magazine Issue 38.

Last month a German based Magazine entitled Porn Up! published pictures and information about a scene that I performed for Hot House Entertainment. Well the Readers digest version of the Hookies is I did not win Best Porn Star Escort. While it would have been nice to win, the person who took home the award is Nick Capra, and I must say that if anybody was going to take the award besides me, I am glad that it was Nick. Nick and I filmed together for Return to Fire Island and we have been to a lot of the same events and Nick is truly an amazing person. I am glad that he won, he definitely deserves it.

There is a new movie coming out March 23rd from Lucas Entertainment called Entrapment, and in the scene I only top for the first time in my career. Well tomorrow ends my stay at home. Like I had mentioned earlier this is the longest I have been home since I moved to NY. I love this city, but after spending three weeks at home I am ready to get out.

This weekend I am in Washington DC visiting friends from when I was studying in Dublin. This weekend is the big Saint Patrick's Day party at the RFK Stadium Festival Grounds, and after we spent this holiday together in Ireland it will be good to meet up think about all of the good times that we had.

After DC I come back home for a few days, mainly for the annual Hookie Awards on the 20th, I am nominated for the best Porn Star Escort. If you live in NY and are interested in attending the free event you can go to the Rentboy web site and all of the information is listed there for you.

Mardi Gras in New Orleans

As some as you know I was lucky enough to go to New Orleans for Mardi Gras this year. While most people would take the traditional route and fly to New Orleans, I decided to go with the fun route. I went there in the Playgirl van with three really cool people, Daniel Nardicio, Jeff Eason, and Shay.

Daniel is a great party promoter here in NY, his parties are some of the best that I have been to. Every now and then I work with him dancing at his parties, and I always have a great time. The pictures in this blog were taken by Jeff, he is a photographer that has seen me naked way too many times. When I film adult material here in NY he is always the photographer that the studios use. Oddly enough after the numerous times he has seen me naked, I have never seen him naked. Shay is one of the most popular gogo boys in NY, and I wish I could work it as good as he can.

This was my fifth time to New Orleans, but this was my first time going as not only an out gay man, but with a group of gay men and also as a porn star. Long story short I had an amazing time. Shay and I danced at the Bourbon Pub the first nigh that we were there, but for the rest of the weekend we were on a sort of vacation and just had fun the rest of the time. I really liked the Bourbon Pub, and especially one of the bartenders there.

On Sunday we went to a local thrift shop where fashion styles and clothes go to die, and we all picked out costumes for the bid day on Tuesday. Another day in New York

After spending much time traveling, I am finally getting to spend some time at home in New York. Since I moved here in October I have yet to spend one complete week in the city. I am on day ten now, and I have mixed emotions.

I am used to coming home and being so busy playing catch up that I am always on the run. Now that I am not on the run, I am getting a little bored. I enjoy going having some down time and being able to spend quality time with friends, but I think the reason I am getting bored is I am living by myself. My while life I have lived with others, when I went away to college I always lived in dorms and university apartments and was always around other people around. Now that I am living by myself I find myself waking up and wishing there was somebody else in my studio with me. At least some mornings there is the random boy in my bed from the night before.

The other day I received an email from Colt Studio Group. It appears that they are going to use a picture of me from my shoot with them for the cover of the movie. When I was filming they didn’t know the title of the movie, but it appears that it is going to be titles “Beg for it”. This was a very good shoot for me, I had a lot of fun. Yes most studios like me for the charming preppy boy next door personality that I bring, but Colt took it to the next level. They dyed my hair what we called Ken doll blonde and put me in a bright pink polo. What I really liked is how they paired up the two models. I was an innocent kid and I was paired up with a leather bound muscle guy named Romario Faria.

A Different Person...

With this being my first official blog entry I imagine this one will be one of my longest, but who knows; I tend to get a little wordy at times.

I can’t imagine where I should begin. I don’t know whether to start at the beginning of my career and work my way up to the present, or if I should start from today and make my way back to the beginning.

Since the saying goes there is no better time than the present I guess I will start with now and catch you all up on the past. I am writing this while sitting in holding on the Ugly Betty set. I am working as a background / extra today for Season 3 episode 18. I am not one of those people that will spoil the season for you, but I can tell you that there should be a few restaurant scenes with me floating around in the background. I never am able to watch any of the shows that I work on because I always get bits and pieces of the show months in advance and spoil the whole story for me.

As exciting as working on TV shows and movies may be at times, in the long run it is just another job for me. I am one of those people that has had many real substantial jobs in the 9 years that I have been working, but I always seem to find those jobs that most would love to have. Working as an extra on TV shows and movies is definitely one of them, but the one job that probably has you reading my ramblings is my career in the Adult Entertainment Industry.

This is one area where I could simply write about all day. When I look at the person I am today and compare it to the person I was in the spring, I am literally a completely different person. While there are major changes that I have endured over what comes close to the past year there are still some personality traits that people still tell me I posses. Those traits are what I am told to be my genuine caring personality, but I still have my blunt attitude. If I like you then you know it, if I do not particularly care for your personality I will not hide that fact. It’s not my intention to be rude; I just don’t act one way when I feel another. Some people say that makes me a prick, I see it as just being real and not fake.

As exciting as my personal traits may be what has brought you to my new web site is my career in the adult entertainment industry, I seem to have trouble calling myself a porn star. While there is no specific definition of “porn star” it took quite a while before I was comfortable with people putting porn star before Ryan Raz. I never had a problem being introduced as myself, but once I went from Ryan Raz to Porn Star Ryan Raz it was quite an adjustment to me.

I cant define a particular moment where I would say I became a “star”, but I have done a good amount of work, people in the gay world are starting to recognize me, and for quite some time now people have always referred to me as Porn Star Ryan Raz. In my personal opinion it isn’t about if you view yourself as a star or not, it is about how others view you. I got my start working for a small production company, as have many others, but their audience is so small I don’t think I would have ever been able to consider myself a star until I was on Box covers with studios that have sold hundreds of thousands of those DVD’s.

Looking at my work in the past and thinking about where I am going in the future it scares me that in this industry your career and future is so unsteady. I turned 25 on January 20th and two days after I was sitting in a doctors office being told that I had rectal cancer. Fortunately everything was able to be taken care of with one quick outpatient operation. The hardest part was the weeks following the procedure. The first two days afterwards I had little to no problems, but as soon as my body started doing some serious healing I was in so much pain. I have never experienced anything like it before and I hope I will never have to experience anything like it again.
