GayVN Awards.

Before I begin I must say that I have started tweeting, I never planned on it, but once I started I just couldn’t stop. I have become a slave to the tweet, and don’t know if I can stop. You can follow me is you want, just go to www.twitter.com/ryanraz84.

Yes after many emails and even a few phone calls asking me to update my blog from all of the events that transpired this past GayVN weekend, I have finally had a chance to do it. I write to you on my flight back home to New York, and I must say it has been a very interesting weekend to say the least.

First and foremost I was nominated for best fetish performer, but alas I was not able to take home the award. While I would have loved to take home the award, it still means a lot to me that I was nominated.

At this point there are a lot of big changes in store for me this next year. My trip to San Francisco went from a visit for the GayVN’s to something that will be the base for an amazing career in the industry. As hype from the awards dies down an official press release will be announced, but to say the least I am in store for an amazing year.

The days before I made my journey to San Francisco I was in Fort Lauderdale for 5 days filming and visiting with my agent Howard at Fabscout Entertainment. The good thing about filming in Fort Lauderdale is Howard isn’t just my agent, but he is family. Fortunately he was in San Francisco for the awards also I was able to spend 10 days with him.

This was my first year in the industry and also my first time attending the awards so I was not sure what to expect. It is hard to say whether I found the weekend a blast, or just another weekend with a bunch of porn stars. I pictured a sort of wild and crazy weekend where people were going out all the time and the party never stopped. Friday night there was a tailgate party where most studios hosted an event at a bar and everybody bar hopped socializing from place to place. That was really the only time where everybody was out to party, and that really was a surprise to me.

There is one really good thing that came from the Tailgate party; I meet a local boy named Cole Streets. Cole is new to the adult industry, and unlike many of the boys that last a few months and disappear Cole has a great future ahead of him. We spent time a good amount of time together, and I am glad that I met him.

The award show in itself was fun, but to be honest the two best parts of the evening were being able to mingle with people I don’t get to see too often in the industry, and one of the hosts Alec Mapa. He was so funny and energetic; he made the event worth attending in my opinion.

Now to Michael Lucas, as most people know I have done work with him in the past year, actually 7 scenes since August. Most of the phone calls and emails that I have received were in regards to his behavior at the awards show. Besides Jason Crew, who is looking absolutely amazing, I was the only other model there that has also worked quite extensively with Lucas Entertainment this past year. Because of this it seems that people seem to think that my opinion matters, and also that because I have worked with Lucas Entertainment so frequently I should have the inside dish and am going to spill it to everybody.

For reasons that will be announced soon, I will not have the opportunity to work with Lucas Entertainment. At first I had some serious torn emotions about this, but sad to say I don’t feel so bad any more; I am more saddened about disappointing Mr. Pam and Patrick than anything. Things that Michael said to me this weekend, and comments that I heard said about others behind their backs showed me his true colors.

People warmed me before I even filmed my first scenes with Lucas Entertainment for Return to Fire Island what type of person he was, and now that I have experienced it for myself I can say they underestimated his personality.

Also as far as his stunt at the awards show, I have to say that it was done in poor taste. While I will say that I have to agree with Michael fully about the seriousness of underage models in pornography, and that this issue is nothing that should be taken lightly.

I have yet to talk with one person who feels that it was necessary to go on stage uninvited and publicly insult Brent Corrigan, and then proceed to shame the committee for nominating him. We all know Michael thrives on negative energy and that he will do anything to keep himself in the center of attention, but I don’t think he should have gone out of his way to insult the committee that also nominated his movies. There is already a long list of places that he is not welcome, must he add one more? I don’t know if he is proud of his actions or not, but if he is proud there is already enough shame in the industry for him.

Dominic Ford - 3D

Have you ever wanted to watch me have sex? Well not you can, not live an in person, but in 3D. A few weeks ago I filmed with Dominic Ford, and they are the first studio that not films every scene the regular 2D way, but they also film in 3D.

I am very excited to actually watch my scene, it should be really exciting. You can watch the quick preview, but when you join the site they send you a pair of the 3D glasses in the mail for your viewing pleasure. The good thing about them filming and posting in both 2D and 3D is you can watch the scenes anywhere and you do not always have to have your 3D glasses with you.

Porn Up! Magazine Issue 38.

Last month a German based Magazine entitled Porn Up! published pictures and information about a scene that I performed for Hot House Entertainment. The scene was for a DVD called Booted, and lets just say I definitely got BOOTED. My scene partner was the ever so popular Justin Wells, and that man was definitely a pleasure to work with. Something tells me that he has a fisted a boy or two in his days.


Also in this issue there was a great review of Return to Fire Island where I also had two scens. My scenes were not used in the magazine, but my sister Jackson Wild and Rafael Alencar were, and it looks amazing. I have seen next months issue and I have two scenes, as soon as I receive my copy from Europe I will post them for you also.

Hookies

Well the Readers digest version of the Hookies is I did not win Best Porn Star Escort. While it would have been nice to win, the person who took home the award is Nick Capra, and I must say that if anybody was going to take the award besides me, I am glad that it was Nick. Nick and I filmed together for Return to Fire Island and we have been to a lot of the same events and Nick is truly an amazing person. I am glad that he won, he definitely deserves it.

I have to say that the event was definitely a success, I have never seen a bar so packed at 8pm on a Friday night, there were a lot of people at Splash, and it seemed that I knew half of the people there, ha. I love talking with people and to say that I was a social butterfly would be a very accurate description of me last night.

I will say that out of all the escorts that were in attendance, I think that I am the only one who brought an escort to the escort awards, I find the irony very funny. Not only did I have one of my best friends with me as my escort, but also a very good porn star friend of mine named Kameron Scott was in town and joined me also. A good time was definitely had by all. As more and more photographers send me pictures and post them I will keep adding them to the webiste, with as much partying that went on I imagine it will be a few days.

Entrapment

There is a new movie coming out March 23rd from Lucas Entertainment called Entrapment, and in the scene I only top for the first time in my career. I have to say that yes I am a big bottom, but yes I do know how to top also. Fortunately I was paired with the most amazing boy named Dimitri Romanov, and working with him was an absolute pleasure.

I have become well known for my work at Lucas Entertainment, and this is my fifth movie with a sixth one quickly to follow. It has been great working with them and I am excited about the future projects that I will have with them.

Travel Travel Travel

Well tomorrow ends my stay at home. Like I had mentioned earlier this is the longest I have been home since I moved to NY. I love this city, but after spending three weeks at home I am ready to get out.

This weekend I am in Washington DC visiting friends from when I was studying in Dublin. This weekend is the big Saint Patrick's Day party at the RFK Stadium Festival Grounds, and after we spent this holiday together in Ireland it will be good to meet up think about all of the good times that we had.

After DC I come back home for a few days, mainly for the annual Hookie Awards on the 20th, I am nominated for the best Porn Star Escort. If you live in NY and are interested in attending the free event you can go to the Rentboy web site and all of the information is listed there for you.

The morning after the Hookies I have a 6am flight to Orlando where I am at Erotica. I have a picture of the flyer posted below, I am sure a good time will be had by all.

From Orlando I move to Fort Lauderdale where I will be filming for 4 days, it is going to be a busy 4 days for me. I don't make it to Florida often enough, so while I am there the studios are taking advantage of it and trying to film as much as possible with me. Fortunately my agent (Fabscout Entertainment / Howard) is based in Fort Lauderdale and it great about getting things set up for me. He makes life almost too easy.

From Florida I am off to San Fran to the GayVN awards, where I am nominated for Best Fetish Performer. This weekend is going to be SOO much fun. I cant wait for all of the fun of hundreds of gay adult models/companies staying in the same hotel.

Mardi Gras in New Orleans

As some as you know I was lucky enough to go to New Orleans for Mardi Gras this year. While most people would take the traditional route and fly to New Orleans, I decided to go with the fun route. I went there in the Playgirl van with three really cool people, Daniel Nardicio, Jeff Eason, and Shay.

Daniel is a great party promoter here in NY, his parties are some of the best that I have been to. Every now and then I work with him dancing at his parties, and I always have a great time. The pictures in this blog were taken by Jeff, he is a photographer that has seen me naked way too many times. When I film adult material here in NY he is always the photographer that the studios use. Oddly enough after the numerous times he has seen me naked, I have never seen him naked. Shay is one of the most popular gogo boys in NY, and I wish I could work it as good as he can.

This was my fifth time to New Orleans, but this was my first time going as not only an out gay man, but with a group of gay men and also as a porn star. Long story short I had an amazing time. Shay and I danced at the Bourbon Pub the first nigh that we were there, but for the rest of the weekend we were on a sort of vacation and just had fun the rest of the time. I really liked the Bourbon Pub, and especially one of the bartenders there.

On Sunday we went to a local thrift shop where fashion styles and clothes go to die, and we all picked out costumes for the bid day on Tuesday. I wound up in a dress that looks like it was left over from an episode of the Golden Girls. I have pictures posted below, and yes I did keep the dress; it fit me so well.

Another day in New York

After spending much time traveling, I am finally getting to spend some time at home in New York. Since I moved here in October I have yet to spend one complete week in the city. I am on day ten now, and I have mixed emotions.

I am used to coming home and being so busy playing catch up that I am always on the run. Now that I am not on the run, I am getting a little bored. I enjoy going having some down time and being able to spend quality time with friends, but I think the reason I am getting bored is I am living by myself. My while life I have lived with others, when I went away to college I always lived in dorms and university apartments and was always around other people around. Now that I am living by myself I find myself waking up and wishing there was somebody else in my studio with me. At least some mornings there is the random boy in my bed from the night before.

The other day I received an email from Colt Studio Group. It appears that they are going to use a picture of me from my shoot with them for the cover of the movie. When I was filming they didn’t know the title of the movie, but it appears that it is going to be titles “Beg for it”. This was a very good shoot for me, I had a lot of fun. Yes most studios like me for the charming preppy boy next door personality that I bring, but Colt took it to the next level. They dyed my hair what we called Ken doll blonde and put me in a bright pink polo. What I really liked is how they paired up the two models. I was an innocent kid and I was paired up with a leather bound muscle guy named Romario Faria.

A Different Person...

With this being my first official blog entry I imagine this one will be one of my longest, but who knows; I tend to get a little wordy at times.

I can’t imagine where I should begin. I don’t know whether to start at the beginning of my career and work my way up to the present, or if I should start from today and make my way back to the beginning.

Since the saying goes there is no better time than the present I guess I will start with now and catch you all up on the past. I am writing this while sitting in holding on the Ugly Betty set. I am working as a background / extra today for Season 3 episode 18. I am not one of those people that will spoil the season for you, but I can tell you that there should be a few restaurant scenes with me floating around in the background. I never am able to watch any of the shows that I work on because I always get bits and pieces of the show months in advance and spoil the whole story for me.

As exciting as working on TV shows and movies may be at times, in the long run it is just another job for me. I am one of those people that has had many real substantial jobs in the 9 years that I have been working, but I always seem to find those jobs that most would love to have. Working as an extra on TV shows and movies is definitely one of them, but the one job that probably has you reading my ramblings is my career in the Adult Entertainment Industry.

This is one area where I could simply write about all day. When I look at the person I am today and compare it to the person I was in the spring, I am literally a completely different person. While there are major changes that I have endured over what comes close to the past year there are still some personality traits that people still tell me I posses. Those traits are what I am told to be my genuine caring personality, but I still have my blunt attitude. If I like you then you know it, if I do not particularly care for your personality I will not hide that fact. It’s not my intention to be rude; I just don’t act one way when I feel another. Some people say that makes me a prick, I see it as just being real and not fake.

As exciting as my personal traits may be what has brought you to my new web site is my career in the adult entertainment industry, I seem to have trouble calling myself a porn star. While there is no specific definition of “porn star” it took quite a while before I was comfortable with people putting porn star before Ryan Raz. I never had a problem being introduced as myself, but once I went from Ryan Raz to Porn Star Ryan Raz it was quite an adjustment to me.

I cant define a particular moment where I would say I became a “star”, but I have done a good amount of work, people in the gay world are starting to recognize me, and for quite some time now people have always referred to me as Porn Star Ryan Raz. In my personal opinion it isn’t about if you view yourself as a star or not, it is about how others view you. I got my start working for a small production company, as have many others, but their audience is so small I don’t think I would have ever been able to consider myself a star until I was on Box covers with studios that have sold hundreds of thousands of those DVD’s.

Looking at my work in the past and thinking about where I am going in the future it scares me that in this industry your career and future is so unsteady. I turned 25 on January 20th and two days after I was sitting in a doctors office being told that I had rectal cancer. Fortunately everything was able to be taken care of with one quick outpatient operation. The hardest part was the weeks following the procedure. The first two days afterwards I had little to no problems, but as soon as my body started doing some serious healing I was in so much pain. I have never experienced anything like it before and I hope I will never have to experience anything like it again.
